Simon Best is a former Senior Lecturer at Middlesex University Business School. As the Programme Leader for the M.Sc. Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship and the Project Leader of EDH@MDX, the enterprise development hub. As the Project Leader for EDH@MDX Simon has become involved is several projects relating to the development of small businesses, digital hubs and platforms. He was also the university lead for APInno, SBeA and InHerit, three Erasmus funded projects; three projects relating to the development and training of young entrepreneurs, and the development of commercial cultural heritage. Alongside these roles, Simon is a Teaching Fellow.
Simon has been involved in entrepreneurship on a global scale. Over a period of 30 years he has started businesses in India, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea and Australia. His businesses included a supermarket, a market research agency, a migration consultancy, and a training company. Simon has also been a consultant to small and medium businesses in Japan, Taiwan, India, South Africa and Vietnam. More recently he has been delivering workshops and seminars in Hungary, USA and Viet Nam to emerging entrepreneurs.
After 30 years as an entrepreneur and small business owner Simon took up tertiary education. His undergraduate degree was in adult education and Simon has an MBA from The University of the Sunshine Coast. Simon earned his PhD at Swinburne University of Technology. His PhD thesis was on how entrepreneurs use improvisation as a legitimate strategy to set up and run their businesses. At Middlesex University he taught several entrepreneurship modules not only in the business school, but also in other faculties such as the Faculty of Science and Technology and consults with other schools and universities on developing entrepreneurial programmes.
Morgan has been appointed as Project Facilities Director to develop strategy and oversee implementation. These include a variety of mixed use buildings and private and public estates. Working with multi-disciplines; compliance, and operational digital change improvements. The team has enhanced health and safety protocols, including water hygiene management, and Fire Safety, while collaborating with contractors to integrate diverse facility systems such as Building Fabric and ME. Using technologies to optimise space and resource planning as well as energy saving initiatives. To reflect a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Previous roles, including Project Development Manager at Cassia Hospitality, focused on translating commercial property concepts into operational realities. Advising clients on facilities management internationally through diverse projects ranging from heritage restorations to modern dining, they fostered strategic partnerships and advanced sustainable practices. Dedicated to innovation and collaboration, their work continues to align with the dynamic needs of the industry.
